I have been shooting hoops at Willows Park for the last 17 years. Never had the chance to change any of their nets out. The city parks service is pretty quick to change out nets that have outlived their purpose. This hoop had 3 broken net cords. Once you have three of the net cords no longer attached to the rim, then you have the ball start to do funny things when it goes through the hoop. First, you lose the "swish" effect. If that's not bad enough, the ball can go through the net unhindered and just bounce away. Plus, it just looks bad.


So, that's why we took action. It is the first net change we have done since the rimless backboard crisis of 2020 - 2021.
